MUCKISH MOUNTAIN AND DUNFANAGHY FROM HORN HEAD KENNETH WEBB RWA FRSA RUA (B.1927)
I’m here…insignificant;
Back in the nature and beauty
of the Lancashire landscape.
I hear the call of the curlew;
They drew us to our home here,
With oystercatchers tumbling from the sky,
The certainty of the seasons repeating;
Nature.
Notice it, be alive with it.
Ever-changing, renewing, growing.
My dog walk; a new experience today.
Not distracted, rushing, lost in messy thought;
But slow, present, productive and grateful,
Seeing meaning and perspective in everything.
Shoulders tight and locked so long,
believing they might rest and release,
Awareness of air
and calmer breathing.
Reflecting and thankful,
So, so thankful for the empathy,
Insights and humanity
Of her first ‘Dunfanaghy family’.
‘Our real work is for ourselves first’
Clarity.
‘We are all artists. Show up,
do the work, don’t be perfect,
Create the piece.
Most problems we have
are solved by this.
And repetition
of this.’
I accept now who I am.
I’m an artist in my own creative space…
My body of work is my unfolding narrative.
Dots joined. Joining more.
What piece can I produce tomorrow? Imagine…
An Artists ‘peace’.
With grateful thanks to Megan Macedo for wisdom, artistry, the connection,
and to the team who curated the Dunfanaghy Retreat 2018.
